The 2007 Annual Rainbow Gathering of Living Light will be celebrated
July 1st through July 7th. Consensus at the 2006 Annual Vision Counsel
was that the 2007 Annual Rainbow Gathering of Living Light will be
held in either Arkansas, Oklahoma or Texas.

There will be a scouting counsel in mid June to bring scouting efforts
together. This counsel will be an open circle for everyone who would
like to attend and share information on potential sites in all three
states. If you have scouting information please make plans to attend
this rendezvous. After the counsel folks will start to move on to the
land and begin seed camp. Further information will be posted here
pertaining to counsel sites, scouting rendezvous, logistics and other
needs.

There are currently two Spring Counsel sites - Please use your best
judgment in pick which site is correct for you. This website does not
endorse either location!!!!

Annual Rainbow Gathering of the Living Light Spring Counsel 2007

Spring Counsel is an open process in which people come together to
share information on possible sites available for the Annual Rainbow
Gathering, discuss the pros and cons of each suggested location and
then come to a consensus on which site can best serve as a gathering
site for peace and healing .

It generally takes one to seven days of conversation and re-scouting
territory to reach a decision. If you come to Spring Counsel, please
be somewhat self sufficient and prepared to feed and water yourself as
there generally is not a kitchen available on site. If you come try to
be 100% self sufficient and supportive of the other participants,
sharing is caring. As always, Spring Counsel is a working Counsel. If
you have been out scouting and have sites you would like to share then
you are highly encouraged to attend this rendezvous and present your
information for consideration and coordination.

Donations of food, volunteer energy, vehicles and fuel funding are
much appreciated and will help the scouting process evolve in a kind
manner. If you can attend and support this effort in any way your
presents will be appreciated.

Until spring Counsel reaches a decision, there is no answer to the
question "where is the gathering?"

------------------------------------

Site #1: Many folks, mostly local, are currently at the Cartney Access
site so if folks want to plug in and start counseling it would be good
for people to get there as early as possible. Even if this is only a
pre- counsel it is valuable place and time to start talking. People
will be there regardless so your statement of ongoing counsel is
probably a good one. It sounds like Carney Access is developing more
into a holding camp and pre-counsel counsel than anything else.

Directions are: The site Called Cartney Access and is near Buffalo
Cuty (114) It is along the Buffalo River from Cartney Access to
Buffalo City.

4...

From Mountain Home Arkansas take 201 south 11 miles, turn right on 341
(Push Mountain road) and cross over Sheids bridge. Go 7 miles until
Cartney White river access sign and Cartney store, turn right. Drive
until you cross a small creek and at 2 miles on the left, trail head.
Parking for this area is down the road 1/2 mile.. If there is any
confusion follow the road to main White river channel. Cell Phones
work at the White River Access (Verizon) near site.

Site #2: Spring Counsel should start approximately June 15th, 2007 at
"Carter Cove" on Nimrod Lake at the free primitive camping area. This
location is in Central /Western Arkansas on Army Corp of Engineers
land, no permits or fees for camping are required. This is not the
gathering site, but a location for Spring Counsel. See
http://www.arkansas.com/lakes-rivers/lake.asp?id=21 for directions to
this location.

------------------------------------

Remember that if you're in the area, violating local and federal laws
can get you ticketed or arrested so be cautious. If you have a family
pet then you may want to have a lease available and in use. Make sure
your vehicle is tagged, insured and in proper working condition. If
you are camping please keep your site clean and any additional trash
that may be around should be picked up and disposed of properly, this
helps keep the LEO activity to a minimum and is respectful to the area.

The weather in Arkansas can change rapidly. The days can be hot and
the nights cool. Bring plenty of blankets and dry clothes. Rain is
another factor. If you have a tarp bring it because there are often
afternoon thunder storms that produce heavy rain and strong winds.

Ticks and poison ivy are a hindrance. Sulfur in the cuffs of your
pants and socks can ward off the ticks, poison ivy rashes can be
prevented by knowing what the plant looks like and washing any exposed
skin with soap and water. Benadryl can also help if you are allergic.
Clean exposed clothing and/or keep them in a plastic bag until they
can be cleaned.

The Arkansas region is mountainous with a lot of curving roads. Please
drive slow and watch out for game crossing the road. You will also
want to make sure your vehicle is full of gas at all times if
possible. Gas stations are generally long distances apart and many
close with the setting of the sun. Don't run out of fuel as other
motorists may not come along for many hours. If you are hiking or have
a ride you would like to share then you might want to check out The
Kind Ride Share located at http://kindrideshare.org

Once Spring counsel reaches a decision, Seed Camp begins. Seed Camps
is when we create the infrastructure to support the gathering. This
means building kitchens, digging shitters, laying water pipe and
building water filtration stations. Seed camp generally finishes by
the end of June. If you come to seed camp early be self sufficient and
be prepared to work.

.

Gatherings tend to be located many miles from the nearest Interstate
and paved road. When planning your drive, realize that the last 50 to
100 miles may be traveled at 20 MPH and plan accordingly. Always plan
to arrive early in the morning. The roads into the gathering are
generally in poor shape and it's easy to get lost at 1 AM in the dark
when you've been driving for 12 hours. Kick it at a camp site for the
night, get up at dawn and come on home. It can take 4 to 8 hours from
the time you park your car until you've gotten to your campsite and
pitched your tent. If this is your first gathering, I'd plan on 8 so
you can figure out what's happening and where you want to camp.

.

For people with kids, if you've never been to a gathering plug in with
Kiddie Village - a kid friendly space with lots of parents willing to
share how to sanely and safely parent at a gathering. If you've never
camped with kids before, read up an that to make sure you're prepared.
Read the rap on kids at Gatherings
http://rainbowguide.info/Raps/RAPeng.php?id=13

.

For people with special needs, ask for Handicamp - a space for people
with mobility and other related disabilities with lots of folks
willing to help you make the most of your gathering experience. While
the trails can be tough and conditions vary from site to site, there's
usually a couple of friendly folks just waiting to assist with the
rough spots. Sometimes we have cool things like rickshaws to assist
people in getting around. Bring your own personal supplies (catheter,
wraps, chair, medical supplies, diapers, cleanup, etc.). Bring own
attendant if you need assistance with personal care (bowel programs,
skin, transfer, catheterizations, wounds, etc) or supervision issues
or other issues (mobility, access, safety) as needed.

Bring enough for yourself and some to share, tread lightly while
you're there, dissappear your campsite compleatly, and take away more
trash than you brought. Beware of any form of leadership or magical
hats!!!!
Clean-up begins upon arrival.
